Campaigners want alcohol promotions adverts banned
The Alcohol Health Alliance (AHA), which includes Alcohol Concern and the Royal College of Physicians, wants to see an end to all adverts which promote alcohol on the basis of low cost. Other European countries, such as France and Norway, all ready have a total ban on all alcohol advertising on television and billboards.

New £1.4m crackdown on teenage binge-drinking
The government is stepping up its efforts to clampdown on teenage binge-drinking by launching a new £1.4m summer initiative today. Councils and police in 69 “youth crime priority areas” will each receive a share of the money to combat anti-social behavior caused by young people drinking too much.

Steam UK picked up 2 more gold awards at this year’s ISP Awards held at London’s Hilton Hotel.
Scottish & Newcastle’s John Smith’s People’s Darts took gold in the alcoholic drinks category whilst Jygsaw’s brand, Scrumpy Jack, won the Small Budget Category with their Rural Retreats campaign.
John Smith’s beat Strongbow’s ‘BowTime’ and AB InBev’s ‘Discover True Dedication’. The judges were impressed by Scottish & Newcastle’s exploitation of their sponsorship of the World Lakeside BDO Darts Tournament; this saw a unique nationawide pub darts challenge to find 2 finalists to play on stage at Lakeside before the world men’s final. Rather than just badging an event they were able to fully engage their consumers in a money cant buy experience.

It seems this season has the potential to be a good one for Steam Lokomotiv. A 10-4 victory over Bolt Burden extends Steam’s unbeaten run of games to 4.
The win never looked in doubt from kick off with Steam dominating possession and passing the ball well. Before long Steam were in a commanding position with goals from Grey and Craig putting Steam ahead. Steam Lokomotiv were strong in possession and solid in the tackle leaving Bolt Burden unable to break through. The creativity of Steam’s play was a joy to behold and quickly they built a 4 goal cushion. This was too much for the opposition with one player going off with “cramp”, leaving only 4 players on the pitch.
