New £1.4m crackdown on teenage binge-drinking
The government is stepping up its efforts to clampdown on teenage binge-drinking by launching a new £1.4m summer initiative today. Councils and police in 69 “youth crime priority areas” will each receive a share of the money to combat anti-social behavior caused by young people drinking too much.

Diageo to cut global marketing spend in 2009
Diageo is slashing its marketing spend in response to the economic downturn. Andy Fennell, the chief marketing officer of Diageo, said the drinks giant expected to spend less on marketing over 2009 due to the global recession which had resulted in flat sales in the nine months to March this year. Diageo is mid-way through a consultation with staff over redundancies as part of a company-wide plan to make £100m in savings focused mainly in developed markets such as the UK.
